Hello! I am Amy Gilligan, the founder and sole member at EarringsByAmy. But EarringsByAmy is no more. Let me tell you why.
Let's go back to the beginning. I began EarringsByAmy in late 2019 as a distraction from a rough patch at university and because I was spending too much on jewellery (and every single item would set me back £10+!). I sold earrings on Leeds Uni Campus for as little as £1 a pair but gave it up when the pandemic hit in March 2020 as I went back to my home in Bradford and to my retail job.
After a few months, I had many messages asking when I would come back and I was shocked that people even cared that much.Over the summer of 2020, EarringsByAmy grew exponentially and I was lucky enough to be able to afford to leave my job and do it full time!
I had no business skill, social media training or any official experience doing it but clearly I was doing something right! I’ve held steadfast to my morals of remaining low cost and thinking about how I want to be treated as a customer.
After millions of views on Tiktok, over 6000 Mystery Packs sold and a couple of magazine articles written about me, I was just about living the dream! EarringsByAmy was my full time job and I was able to create collections that I cared about and knew that my customers would love too!
Some of my proudest work is my Pride Collection that raised money for a Trans Fundraiser as well as my best selling Taylor Swift Collection.
Fast forward to 2025 and, to be honest, sales have slowed down a lot since the pandemic. Although this is a tough pill to swallow, it was also a blessing because it pushed me to do what I’d always wanted to do but never had the time (or bollocks) to do, EXPAND!
Over the past 2 years, I’ve been adding products to my shop such as Friendship Bracelets, Sticker Packs and the odd necklace or two whilst reminaing as EarringsByAmy,which always felt odd but it felt too risky to stray from the brand that I’d lovingly created over the past half decade! After all, I’ve sent out over 20,000 orders under my name.
So, I decided to be brave and, without consulting anyone in my life (NOT like me at all!), I checked that the domains were free, secretly made mock ups of my vision and then I just did it!
INTRODUCING: Eba Jewellery.
Bonus points if you’ve already figured out the meaning behind the name but, if not, let me explain! When I’m writing to-do lists or quickly texting my partner, I’d shorten the quite wordy EarringsByAmy, to EBA. (So, basically I’ve been sat on my new name for years and I never realised!). It’s easy to say, catchy AND pays homage to all of my hard work. It is pronounced like the name Eva (I keep saying EEEEEBBBAAAAH like Wall-e though right now!).
I am so proud of EarringsByAmy and I will miss her everyday but I know that it’s time to move forward and create the Jewellery Empire that I’ve always dreamt of.
So how does this affect you? You can continue to expect high-quality, funky and affordable pieces of Jewellery that will make you feel confident, as well as my lovely face all over your Feeds for as long as I can make it on there! I'm currently planning on running Jewellery Workshops in the West Yorkshire area so look out for that if you're local!
